The junior band had a very successful concert on Monday 26th May. The group, comprising 10 players with an age range of 8 to 14, looked very smart in the new purple polo shirts.

The concert began with two group items then the younger members all played a solo with CD accompaniment. This was followed by more group items which included a sight reading exercise, which the youngsters managed with ease. The older members then played solos with accompaniment provided by the tutors. Finally the winning pieces from the Festival performance were played.

The players who won the Festival trophy were presented with a certificate and John Birse won the shield for the most improved junior. John has been regular in the senior band for over a year and as well as near perfect attendance has progressed up the cornet ranks to repiano.

At the close of the concert the audience showed their appreciation and were then invited to end the evening with a cup of tea.

Once again the juniors rose to the occasion and provided a most enjoyable concert for the large audience.
