Galloway Music Festival 2013

Creetown Silver Band had great success in the recent Galloway Music Festival.
In the junior brass solo section for grades 4 to 5 Kyle Fitzsimmons (cornet) won the trophy against Rebekah Hughes (horn).  Both were awarded a commendation.
The junior band also won a trophy in the secondary school age large ensembles gaining a “distinction” grade.
In then adult solo section band secretary Jack Norgate was up against band conductor Stuart McNab, making a rare appearance as a player. Both impressed the adjudicator and both were given a “distinction grade” with Jack’s playing of “Bass In The Ballroom” just taking top spot.
In the overall adult section there were two entries from the band, the full band and a quintet, up against several other musical groups. Once again both of the band groups greatly impressed the adjudicator with their dynamisc, articulation and musicianship to such an extent that both gained the highest grade of “honours” . The trophy was awarded to the band as, according to the adjudicator, it would please more people.
This was a huge step in the planned build-up to becoming a contesting band again next year.
